wordsEN – oAxAcA was born in Cuneo from the blues funk band Stylefire, formed in 2000 by Mattia Bernardi (drums) and Alberto Boto Dutto (guitar, Movie Star Junkies). After 6 years and thirty songs (7″ Obliquicity, released by the tiny dead label Mondo Mutato), the band goes to the complete absence of structure, instigated by american free jazz, the new thing, James Brown, Coltrane… The first four improvisations recorded in 2008 were produced for SelvaElettrica and downloadable for free from the label’s website. In 2009 the Band is enriched by Diego Viada’s trumpet, and so with Ivan Grosso (percussion) and Michele Guglielmi (rhodes), they record in december 2010, the first LP mixed by Mano Moccia at Blue Records Studio in Mondovì. Fresh to the press in January 2012 for Jacob Records and SelvaElettrica. In 2010, there is also the session that leaves extracts White Groove, Stay Lay and George Clinton’s Ghost with the saxophone of Andrea Armando that played with the band for three months. Many gigs in the Piemonte region and around Italy including two concerts with Roberto Giolito on electric bass. In the same year joined the band, bassist Alessandro Tato Filipazzi. In October 2012, the band is in the studio for a new recording with the participation of Maiu Beltrando on Korg MS20/Farfisa/clavinet. Here “Salvatora”, LP released by Holidays Records in March 2014. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Mano Moccia. In the spring of 2020, the Spanish label 2 Headed Deer releases “Onde di sabbia”, the latest work of the band. Produced, recorded, mixed by Boto between December 18´, January 19´ with the help of Tato Filipazzi at Balsamic studio S.P. Del Gallo (CN). Mastering by Nene Baratto at Big Snuff studio, Berlin. Dopo 6 anni e una trentina di canzoni (7″ Obliquicity, uscito per la minuscola e defunta Mondo Mutato) la band passa alla completa assenza di struttura, istigata dal free jazz americano, la new thing, James Brown, Coltrane… Le prime quattro improvvisazioni registrate risalgono al 2008 prodotte per SelvaElettrica e scaricabili gratuitamente dal sito internet dell’etichetta. Nel 2009 oAxAcA si arricchisce della tromba di Diego Viada, e via con l’aggiunta di Ivan Grosso (percussioni) e Michele Guglielmi (rhodes) registrano nel dicembre 2010 il primo LP: presa diretta su otto tracce, mixato da Mano Moccia al Blu Record Studio di Mondovì. Fresco alla stampa nel gennaio 2012 per Jacob Records e SelvaElettrica. Nel 2010 si registra anche la session che ci lascia gli estratti White Groove, Stay Lay e George Clinton’s Ghost con il saxofono di Andrea Armando che suona con la band per tre mesi. Live in Piemonte e in giro per l’Italia incluse due date con Roberto Giolito al basso. Nello stesso anno si unisce alla band il bassista Alessandro Tato Filipazzi. Da segnalare il live studio session “August Tape” e la take con la voce di Simone Basso Enomisossab. Nell’ottobre 2012 la band è in studio per una nuova registrazione con la partecipazione di Maiu Beltrando su Korg MS20, Farfisa e clavinet. Da qui “Salvatora”, LP pubblicato per Holidays Records nel marzo 2014. Prese, mix e mastering by Mano Moccia. Nella primavera del 2020 l’etichetta spagnola 2 Headed Deer pubblica “Onde di sabbia”, ultimo lavoro della band, prodotto, registrato e mixato da Boto tra dicembre 2018 e gennaio 2019 con l’aiuto di Tato Filipazzi al Balsamic studio di S.P. del Gallo (CN). Il Mastering è di Nene Baratto (Big Snuff Studio- Berlino). Vinyl pressing di Patrick Gibin al Mother Tongue Records.
